In 1941 and 1942 Sarah was a member of the leadership of the outlawed ken in Debrecen. In January 1942 she went to a hahshara in Budapest. Sarah helped with the absorption of refugees  from Poland who were members of the movement. After the Germans entered Hungary on 19.3.1944, she became an underground activist. She obtained authentic Aryan documents and distributed them. Sarah traveled to many places to distribute documents and she tried to convince friends to escape from the forced labor camps and the ghettos. She found apartments for the fugitives and was active in the tiyul to Romania. Sarah herself made aliya within the framework of the tiyul. On 15.8.1944 she arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine). She was a member of Kibbutz Metzuba and worked as a biology, chemistry and agriculture teacher.
